I'm Sarah, wifey to Ward, grower of three tiny humans Lily, Remy, and Fletcher. Fur mama to Grace & Roxy dweller in Southern California.

Head mama of @themomculture maker of mama goods, sometimes podcaster @momculturepodcast lover of vintage and Mexican food always striving to support my fellow mamakind and trying damn hard to #raisegoodhumans while self-healing from a crappy childhood.

How and why I started mom culture...

I started this brand in 2013 after a very rough pregnancy and even more traumatic birth of our last tiny human in 2013. I was a little bit lost and a little bit broken; I had also finally made peace with the choice to move on from years of a toxic relationship with my mother. Needless to say, starting a business was not on my daily to-do list, but it had been on my lifelong bucket list.

After lots of love and encouragement from my husband and a good friend, I took my "hobby" of making things to e-commerce, and the rest you can say is history.

I've built a six-figure brand while nursing a baby and doing carpool from my kitchen table to a modest warehouse with two employees.

Our brand has been featured on a handful of celebrity mamas & papas, and I've had the pleasure and opportunity to collaborate and meet some of the most fantastic fellow mama founders and makers around. I've been on T.V. (I was terrified), featured in magazines, and guest podcasts all not too shabby for a girl who suffered from educational neglect and was always told she'd never amount to much...I sure showed them!

My babies

Fletcher my youngest the little game changer with a heart of gold.

Lily my oldest and my biggest inspiration for many of my designs the zero to ten baby who made me a mother.
Remy my middle main man the little ginger gemini who gives me a run for my money daily but who's the sweetest guy just don't tell anyone.

Mother with all your heart

Through creating and starting my brand, I've healed some deep mother wounds and have connected to womanhood in such a more profound way. Mother, the mothers, holds such a special place in my heart because I think that's all I ever really wanted was to be #mothered.

  • Mom: The woman who loves you unconditionally from birth, the one who puts her kids before herself, and the one who you can always count on above everyone else.

  • Culture: the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group; the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization.

We are Mom Culture. Our journeys may be different, we may do things differently, but our core values and culture are the same.

We are women who love unconditionally, who mother will all our hearts, and share the same common goal to do our best to RAISE GOOD HUMANS!

Mom Culture® brings authenticity and community to mothers by designing relatable apparel that redefines modern Mom Culture and supports your fellow mamakind.

So, here’s my Mom Culture “manifesto” in a few bullet points

  • I believe in being as eco-conscious and earth-friendly as possible;

  • I believe in designing, creating, and selling apparel with “soul;”

  • Quality is important to me.  I won’t sell anything I wouldn’t buy for myself or my own family.

  • I believe in community and lifting our fellow mamakind up.

Ward my loving and supportive husband the OG ExhaustDad Family Man.

As I open my virtual doors today, I’m checking an item off my “bucket list” and starting down a new and exciting path. Thanks to the love and support of my husband, Ward Komers, and our three children, I feel ready to take on this new adventure.

I promise to give you and your family my best.

Thanks for coming on this journey with me!
