Hey mama! Back to school shopping is coming up, with three kids shopping can get a little expensive. Here are a few of our favorite cost-friendly and splurge-worthy finds from Walmart.
Early Years: Pre-K through 2nd
My youngest loves using his notebooks during the year. He uses them to jot down his notes and write his daily news journal.
Backpacks are always a justifiable buy for the school year. My kids are in awe of Jansport back packs right now. Jansports are a bit on the expensive side but in my defense, they are super durable and they have warranties on them so you don't have to worry about all the wear and tear they go through throughout the year.
Pencils are another one of those back-to-school necessities. My littlest loves the black #2 pencils because they have a little edge to them.
My youngest doesn't have the greatest grips when it comes to holding his pencil, so for us, pencil grips are a must-have during the school year.
The twistable Crayola colored pencils are super "in" right now with the younger kids. These don't need to be sharpened because they twist up, so no need to worry about your younger ones with a pencil sharpener.
4th & 5th
As my kids get older I am learning that mechanical pencils are all the rage.
My middle child is in elementary right now and all he has wanted are graphic folders for his binder. A lot of the folders are super cute and they personalize your binder while being both practical and decorative.
Lunch bags are always needed during the school year because without them where would you put your lunch without them!
Our middle kid wants a Jansport per usual and he is at that "too cool for school" age (aka: 5th grade). He wants something that reflects his personality.
Ahh the zipper pencil bags. My kids love these things, and I am not totally sure whether to classify these as toy or a school supply!
Middle School
Our tween wants a Jansport and I thought it was so funny, she picked out the same one that I had in middle school. The 90's really are making a comeback!
My oldest is now a tween and all she wants is a Hydro Flask. Now listen, I know I know they are super expensive, but I am willing to compromise. A Hydro Flask is at the top of my daughter's list and she has agreed to wear her school clothes from last year. (Can I get an amen??) It's just one of those things that's a social compromise since they are super on-trend right now.
Of course, you can't have a Hydro Flask without the stickers.
Middle school years are when the notebooks come into full effect. We have probably gone through a million now but the multi-packs of notebooks are lifesavers.
Now that my daughter is getting a little older, we don't really worry about her losing her pencils as often anymore. We buy the really nice 2 pack of mechanical pencils and they last her the whole year.
I can't believe it's taken me this long in my motherhood "career" to figure out the solution to the icepack debacle! I get it, when my kids come home, they (thankfully) dump out the trash in their lunch boxes. Unfortunately, a lot of the time the ice packs go along for the ride. I figured out a way to make sure we will always have enough cold packs for their lunches to stay nice and chilly. I found these awesome colorful ice packs (so, no more fighting over who gets which one). And the best part?? They're only $1 each!!
What is on your kids' must-have back to school list?
